Moonrise. Every day for one lunar month.
Paint, plywood, rope, video projection. 2014.

The moon completes a full cycle through all its phases roughly every 29 days. This means that, unlike the sunrise, to see the moonrise daily, it requires getting up at a different time everyday, and at all hours of the day and night. I began my month of living on lunar time on the vernal equinox in March at midnight, meeting the moon daily, progressively later every day.

The moon remains wondrous, distant, and romantic. This handmade moon, rolled across the horizon every day, brings the moon within reach, a paint and plywood replica that touches the earth, and that touches my hands. It's a celestial romance close enough to reach out and touch, and one that I want to be a part of.
